The twenty-minute reset
Six jobs, a time on each, in order. Stick it where you'll see it when the doorbell is twenty minutes away, and move on when the time is up, finished or not.

- The kitchen, 5 minutesDishes in the dishwasher or sink, counters wiped with one cloth, table cleared. Nothing gets scrubbed.
- The bathroom, 4 minutesSink, tap and toilet wiped, clean hand towel out, loo roll checked.
- The entry, 3 minutesShoes in a pile, coats on hooks or upstairs, a clear spot to put down a bag.
- The bins, 2 minutesKitchen first. A full bin is the thing guests notice by smell.
- Lights and doors, 1 minuteLamps on, ceiling light off, doors closed on any room you didn't get to.
